Lesson Plan: Colors and Clothes - Here is a Red Hat
Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the sentence "Here is a red hat" to talk about colors and clothes.
Materials:
- Red hat for each student
- Pictures of different colored hats and clothes for reference
- Whiteboard and markers
- Handouts with color words and phrases
Procedure:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
- Begin the class by asking students if they have ever worn a red hat or seen a red hat before. Write their answers on the board.
- Ask students if they know any other colors besides red. Write their answers on the board.
- Introduce the topic by saying, "Today, we are going to learn about colors and clothes. Let's start by talking about the color red."
2. Presentation (10 minutes)
- Show pictures of different colored hats and clothes on the whiteboard. Ask students to identify the colors of the hats and clothes. Write their answers on the board.
- Introduce new color words using the handout. Say, "Let's learn some new color words. Can anyone tell me what 'blue' means?" Write the word 'blue' on the board.
- Introduce the phrase 'here is a [color] [item].' Ask students to repeat it after you. Explain that this phrase is used to talk about a specific item that has a certain color.
3. Practice (15 minutes)
- Distribute red hats to each student. Ask them to wear their hats and practice using the phrase "Here is a red hat." Encourage them to say it in different situations, such as when they see another red hat or when they are choosing a hat for a costume party.
- Distribute pictures of different colored hats and clothes. Ask students to match the items with their corresponding color words using the handout.
